We offer riverfront tent camping located adjacent to our headquarters. Camping is available for those renting boats and/or tubes. The campground is just a stone’s throw away from our HQ building (where you check in and where our private hot showers are located). The campsites each have an open air fire pit and a picnic table. There are port-o-potties situated throughout the campground for late night needs and the showers are open from 8am to 6pm. We only offer camping in conjunction with river trips. If you are simply in need of a campsite, check out the following options:
- Horseshoe Flats Campground 434-286-4401
- KOA of Charlottesville 434-296-9881
- Small Country Camping 540-967-2431
Below you will find descriptions of our most popular overnight package options:
Please note that we do not provide fishing tackle, bait, or rods, so if you plan to fish, you should bring your own gear.
This package offers the best of both worlds, a day of boating (canoe or kayak) and a lazy day of tubing. Day 1 can consist of either:
-An 8am early riser 12.5 mile option with Class I & II rapids
-A 10am late riser 7 mile option with Class I rapids & riffles
This upriver section of river is generally wide and is scattered with small islands on which to stop and picnic. You will see blue heron, bald eagles, box turtles. Smallmouth bass, crappie and channel catfish will provide most of the fishing action if you bring your gear to fish. You will conveniently float back to your campsite at the end of the day.
Day two will consist of a lazy 4 mile float from Hatton Ferry back to Scottsville. We can shuttle you out as early as 10:30am or as late as 1:30pm and every half hour in between. This float also ends back at camp.
Cost per person: $70 (includes 1 night of camping)
This package is for the all-day outdoor enthusiasts and fishermen. It differs in that it offers boating both days and on longer stretches of river. Day one consists of an 8am departure on our 12.5 mile run from Howardsville to Scottsville. This upper section is generally wide and includes occasional Class I & II rapids and a few islands on which to stop and picnic or wade fish with your own tackle. Day 1 ends up back at base camp.
Day 2 will depart from camp at 8am and downriver you go to Bremo Bluff! Bring your gear for this 12 mile section full of wildlife and littered with islands offering some great fishing. This is also our most remote section of river offering Class I & II rapids (and occasionally Class III if the river is over 5′ average depth). We do not recommend this section for beginners. Pick up time is 3pm sharp and the bus will bring you back to our HQ.
2 boat minimum required This package includes the most remote river trip we offer, so we require that you take a buddy out with you.
Cost per person: $80 (includes 1 night of camping)
